My paintings begin with an enduring fascination for landscapes — not simply as visual scenes, but as living presences that hold memory, emotion, and silence. I am drawn to forests: the way light filters through leaves, the quiet life that breathes within shadow and mist, and the stillness that gathers between trees at dusk.

The Spirit in the Forest
Recurring elements such as mist-filled terrains, distant horizons, and quiet encounters between humans and animals suggest a shared ecology. The presence of elephants, birds, and other beings is intentional — they exist not as subjects, but as reminders of an interconnected world where boundaries between lives are fluid and fragile.
My academic engagement with literature, particularly my research in Gothic Studies, has shaped this visual language. It has drawn me towards mood, ambiguity, and the unseen. The landscapes I paint often exist in an in-between space — both real and imagined, familiar yet slightly distant.
In works such as the Vanamuthassi series, inspired by lived experience, the forest becomes a keeper of time, holding within it both decay and renewal. Through the interplay of shadow and light, I seek to reveal the quiet spirit that moves through these spaces. Ultimately, my work is an invitation to slow down, to look closely, and to listen.
